BLEWBURY CROQUET CLUB

Blewbury is a friendly village by the Berkshire Downs in south Oxfordshire just three miles outside Didcot, with a thriving croquet club. Our members come from many nearby towns and villages.

The club has two excellent full-size croquet lawns, built with major grant support from Sport England, the Croquet Association, and Vale of White Horse District and Blewbury Parish Councils, and others. We have a small purpose-built brick clubhouse with all mod cons.

We have between forty and fifty club members, but plenty of room for more, and six qualified coaches to help everyone. If you don't already know a member to talk to, see the contact details at the bottom of this page.

See the video below - just a few minutes of croquet players talking about their sport

We put on three open Association croquet tournaments every year, and play Association and Golf croquet league and friendly matches against other clubs. Some of our members play in individual competitions in the club, and others just play for fun.

The courts are open to members and interested newcomers seven days a week throughout the summer, and in winter subject to the weather - we must bow to snow and ice and flood. There is no restriction on who can join, and no joining fee, just the regular annual subscription, which is reduced for families, juniors, and distant members.

The club provides all the playing equipment needed, though players usually buy their own mallets once they decide to play regularly. You don't need any special clothing, just whatever you feel comfortable in, and no restrictions on colours. The only thing a new player does need before going on to the courts is a comfortable pair of flat-soled shoes, so as not to risk damage to the flat lawns.

Email the Secretary for more details.

Contact any member to arrange a visit to try the game and the courts.
