Blewbury is a pretty village by the Berkshire Downs
in south Oxfordshire near Didcot, with a thriving croquet club.
Founded in 1993, the Club has steadily grown and now has
two excellent full-size croquet lawns and a small modern clubhouse.
Our members come from far and wide, but mainly from
the nearby towns and villages in the Oxford - Reading - Newbury triangle.
The courts are open seven days a week through the
summer. The season starts in April, and continues to September or
October. We also have an occasional social programme.
At Blewbury we play both Association croquet and
Golf croquet. Some of our members play in individual competitions and
team matches against other clubs. Others just play for fun.
The club provides all the playing equipment
needed, though players usually buy their own mallets once they decide
to play
regularly. The only thing a new player needs is a comfortable pair of
flat-soled shoes.
Blewbury
Croquet Club welcomes both beginners and experienced players. There is
no restriction on who can join, and no joining fee, just the regular subscription
which is reduced for families, juniors, and distant members. The Club has qualified
coaches to introduce you to the game, and to help members improve their play.
